Pretty cool. I can see this series coming along!
This was a very different flash in many ways compared to the usual submissions we got on the site. It was definitely "an interactive comic" like you said it was, and it truly played out nicely. I was happy to see another Brink of Alienation game was out, because i have enjoyed the other ones thus far. But i wasnt expecting this from you guys at all. This was a very different game from many different perspectives including the kind of stuff i know you for submitting. There were some minor errors, but im sure youll work most of them out as the series progresses, this is a totally new style of movie from what i have seen and it will take some time to work out the little errors in it. Heres my review.
The graphics were awesome, i just loved them throughout this movie. I was thinking while watching this how cool it would be if you could incorporate some of these visuals into your side scrolling games. But anyways, like many people have said before me and like you have said yourself, this did remind me of Broken Saints, but i found this more cool. The drawings were clearly the main focus of the graphics in this. The characters proportions seemed to be slightly exagerrated, but i think this was for the best. The backgrounds were really cool, they were very detailed and i rather like the futuristic look they gave to the city. The animation, or at least, what ever you had of it was great for a comic book style movie. I mean where on some occasions there were movements in the backgroun and stuff like that. I can see a huge improvement in your side scrollers because of these great visuals. The style of this movie was excellent. It is certain that if you watched the Broken Saints series and liked it, you well enjoy this too. The animating style, first off, was intricate and very unique. But there was more to the style than just that. The idea of an interactive comic is awesome, and was actually executed very well. Obviously it had its flaws, however small were noticeable such as the length of some scenes when nothin too much was happening. The gameplay was not very different, thought it was still good and it was also a good way to break up the movie into few different and fun parts. The story was actually very good, and i was surprised to hear a good one, i guess since its been a while that ive heard one. Of course your old side scrolling method doesnt get old either! The sound was awesome when it was running smoothly. But what i heard a few times is the sound seemed kind of choppy, like a sound effect would start then it would end before it finished playing kind of thing. Sometimes it just didnt really flow as well as id like it to. But the sound effects themselves were great and usually seemed complete. The voice acting was quality too, its a shame there wasnt more of it to hear.
Overall this was a great interactive comic, i wouldnt quite call this a game nor a movie. It was more of a pleasant mix of both. In the future i hope to see more interactive comics, that are maybe a bit more interactive than this one, and i hope they will follow this same storyline. What ever you decide to do, keep up the great work!
