Sprites like these are the ones i love.

This was really awesome in every way a sprite can be, except humour obviously. But in this case humour was probably the last thing you actually needed in order for this to be successful. All the action, the awesome storyline, the characters and their development and certainly the visuals all combined and made for one of the better sprites i have seen in 2006, i would say top 3. This was one of those sprites with a really well developped storyline, and that are also very long allowing for a lot to happen. And the way you ended this and told the story the whole way through got me interested in the series right away. Here is my review.

The graphics were awesome, the new sprite animators should follow great examples of good sprite animation like this. The characters were really well used, you developped their personalites extremely well throughout and i rather liked how each side, good vs bad, sort of had a different look overall. The background work was pretty good, for the most part it was simle but they worked very well with the movie. It may have been how they sort of moved with the characters. The animation was great too, in the battle scenes it was some of the best on the site, but here is where id improve in your graphics: the running animations werent always perfect, a little bit of sliding in their legs if you know what i mean. The style was awesome too, as i mentioned early the development of not only the characters but the storyline as well made for an immersive and exciting sprite movie. The presentation was awesome for the most part, however there were some instances where there wasnt much going on other than one of the characters just running somewhere or driving in one case for too long at once. But i also found this fun because you used quite a few sprites i have never seen before, such as the good soldiers all those trucks, and even some of the characters are totally new to me. There werent any big flaws at all for the style either. The sound was great too, but nothing really other than some of the voice acting really impressed me. Also some of the things i didnt quite like had to do with the voice acting too. The voices of Sigma and Dr. Wily had off expressions too often i found, or maybe i just didnt particularily like them very much. But Sigma's would have been very difficult to understand without the subtitles. Other than that id have to say the sound was rather good, cool choices of music that suit the movie, and some great and numerous sound effects.

Overall this was an awesome sprite movie thanks to the things i mentioned and some i didnt such as the noticable effort you put into this. Naturally after this episode i have really high hopes for the future ones, so try not to dissapoint though i doubt you will. Just keep coming with the effort and this series will definitely be a hit!

CheveLoco responds:

really nice review..what else can i say, thank you so much and i am glad u liked it(i'll check the running animations next time)

Good overall but it has its negatives.

I remember the first episode, and i know this 2nd episode was better, even if not by much. To me it doesnt really matter that they were submitted in two parts, because all i do is review it once like i would for the full episde, so im reviewing the first part and this one right here. Everything was above the average, and there isnt just one particular aspect i would improve, but id probably fine tune a little bit in each one. I can only see the series improving, i have fairly high hopes for it. Here is my review.

The graphics were good, not quite what i would say great for a few reasons. The drawings seemed a little awkward sometimes when you tried to make an effect of some sort, for example when the car exploded in the first part and Rik was standing near it. The environment looked alright, you made it seem like a downtown city seemingly without much trouble. And the animation just wasnt fluent enough for movement to movement to be amusing all the time, and i couldnt help but notice the steering wheel, there wasnt anything within the circle of it, and it seemed to move an awful lot. But i actually really liked the character design of the mutants, they were well detailed and just looked cool. The style was great, the effort throughout was pretty noticable. You attempted to do some cool effects and you must be commended for that, but others were forgotten that are pretty good extras, such as adding bullets for the firing machine gun. The animating style was good, its getting to the point where i can really tell it apart from another similar animating style now. The story, while not 100% original from what ive seen is pretty good and does seem creative, i still like it nonetheless. The whole "zombie/mutant infestation" thing has certainly been done before, and done well but unlike most authors you tried to make something different about yours, and succeeded. But overall the flow of the action could have been better, the presentation was a little choppy in this way, good in the storyline way however. The sound was great too other than one music choice which didnt really fit in. The other music choice i can recall was very good, and the sound effects that went along with it were solid. The voice acting was nicely done as well, maybe on the kids voice you could improve the expressions a little bit though.

Overall this was a great second episode, yes it did have its flaws here and there but the final product was a solid action packed movie that any resident evil fan could enjoy, or any fan of just a good action flash. I think the series will only keep getting better, i hope it does too. Great job.

Half-Sanity responds:

Thanks for the in-depth review. I'll adress a few of the things you mentioned, as well as some of the reviews left by others prior to you.

The thing some people seem to lose sight of is, we are very new to this whole process. I'm new as a writer, and a voice actor. Luffy is new to animating with Flash. Both of us are just at the bottom of the ladder of experience. So forgive us if what we produce isn't a perfected block-buster, we're working on it. =)

The small things that were noticed, the steering wheel, the lack of ANYTHING coming from the turret gun, as well as a few other things were definitely noticed by me. They could have been changed, but I guess they weren't. The sound of the gun warming up was very cheesy, but since we found it pretty amusing, we left it in there. We'll try to keep a more open eye to our own attention to detail from now on. I still stand by my opinion that compared to some of the....art that is posted here by Flash Newbies, we aren't doing too badly, and hopefully we will only get better.

Thank you very much for watching, and reviewing so honestly,
-Riketz

Impressive, a great start!

Very good movie overall, since you had to restart i can only guess the original was maybe a bit longer and probably not quite as good either. Having to restart anything, not just flash, is a good way to make you rethink something you have created and to make it better in the end. Well i enjoyed this, everything was well done and even more importantly everything came together extremely nicely by its end. You also said it was kind of short in your comments, but this is longer than most of the movies on the site, so nice work even there. Here is my review.

The graphics were excellent i found. There wasnt anything in particular that really needed improvement. A little tweeking on the running animation as well as fixing up the colour and general animation of the blood would do the series some justice. But other than that, everything was pretty impressive in terms of the visuals, and even more so because it was all drawn with a mouse. The characters looked great, i like how you used a bit of an anime style but didnt use it full blown. The detail was always very good in both the characters and the backgrounds. The animation was also pretty good for the most part, it could be smoother i suppose but what ever you did with it worked in the movie. The style was awesome too, the way your characters were done made them look pretty realistic in a way. The idea was good, a little vague in this episode but im sure the whole story will clear up. Reading the long paragraph during the preloader to understand the story takes too much time, you should have put animation with it to make it more exciting. The whole presentation was pretty good though, there was lots of action while introducing the series in a great and fairly unique way. The sound was great. The content of the sound was very good, but it did have its problems. For one the quality wasnt too good, some voices seemed a little quiet and anothers distorted. And some sound effects were the same way, but in terms of the voice acting and sound effects themselves the sound was very well done. Just refine the quality in the future.

Overall this was an awesome movie despite its flaws. I think this could turn out to be a really good series if you improve on the things the reviews say and you keep up your current effort. Well i definitely enjoyed it, and i hope everything else you submit in the future is as good or better than this!

Great, did the characters justice!

Great work, i definitely enjoyed myself, being a fan of well done action and more importantly the Zelda series. Whenever i see a name such as yours im always expecting a simple one versus one fight between two characters from a game, movie or show. And i dont expect them to be very good most of the time because i have seen so many poorly made ones, but this one was a breath of fresh air in that way. Youve done the whole 1v1 fight idea very well, and with cool familiar characters, with somewhat new features. This is one of the better fights i have seen for a while, here is my review.

The graphics were great, there were just a few instances where i noticed either you didnt put quite as much effort into some parts, or you simply just didnt do them as well. Either way for the most part everything was very good. The things i noticed were some times in the animation the movements just didnt seem to be very accurate or fluent, for instance when Link was running, either with a side view or a direct few where he was running towards the screen as the viewers saw it. It just didnt seem fluent enough basically, and one other big thing is the background and environments which kind of seemed overly simple, even for a dream. The style was great too, for a few reasons. I wouldnt say there was any specific thing wrong with it, but just things that have noticable room for improvement. The general idea itself was pretty good, although using characters that are frequently used on the site, you slightly changed them up and put a unique story behind them. This story you added also added a solid introduction as to why to why this fight was actually occuring, often in fight scene movies you dont see this done well, if at all. The presentation was good, you could have used some more original fight "tactics" i guess theyd be called. Like when they charged at each other quickly switchign from Ganon to Link and then a slash occured and the hero gets the hit on the enemy, this particular thing i have seen quite a few times. I rather like how you changed up the characters slightly too, like Ganon's tied back hair and Link's stunning gold armor. The sound was great too, you had a little bit of everything id like to hear in this aspect. Some pretty cool sound effects for many of the animated actions, a cool song playing in the background that worked fairly well with the animating and just a solid outcome for it.

Overall this was a great movie that i think any fan of the zelda series could really enjoy. Just improve on the things i mentioned and maintaining a 4.00 shouldnt be far out of reach. Keep improving your skills as you keep making flash. Just make sure you keep submitting your great stuff to the portal!

Even without Madness you are awesome!

Well naturally i saw this submission in the portal made by Krinkels, so i was thinking, "oh cool another madness movie, good score too" I then checked it out, and wow! It was almost entirely different from the madness series and it was still very good. There were obviously some familiar elements that you almost needed to keep in from your previous series, like all the violence, and the whole one army idea. I bet if you keep this going you will be known for this as well as the series which made you very famous on the site. Here is my review.

The graphics were certainly 10 worthy except, during the fight scene the main character seemed to change proportions, from tall and fairly skinny, to a little shorter. I dont know if you meant to do this, but i would have liked it better if the character stayed the same. Other than that, i cant really pick out any flaws that i noticed what so ever. The drawings were pretty good for the most part, they didnt necessarily have their very own style, but they were good anyways. The detail throughout was great, this is a big improvement over the madness series which had fairly simple backgrounds. What really impressed me in this movie was the actual animation, it was really smooth and most movements such as when she was putting her glove on, seemed almost real because not even one step of it was missed. The style was great, as i said you did keep some familiar elements from Madness, mostly the ones that made it famous, but i still felt you could have changed more than just the animation around. Perhaps add more of a story, voice acting, a bit more length and other stuff like that you know . Either way you did make a huge change and that has to be commended in its own. The sound was pretty awesome too, what you did is basically made the whole movie seem more action packed with all the sound effects you used. Not only that but the music was really cool too, they also added to the action packed feel as well as just providing the movie with cool well chosen music.

Overall you have once again succeeded in making and action packed, violent, well animated movie. I seriously look forward to seeing how this series progress, that is if you do plan on making a series out of it. Well just keep up the great work man, you fans are counting on it!

Well, this is what id expect from Salad Fingers!

Another well done salad fingers episode, if you have liked the series since the beginning you will like this one too. The same great familiar elements that were in the previous episodes, and by this i mean the odd and unique animating style, the creative presentation of it all, and most importantly the overall weirdness of the entire series. This is probably the trademark of the series id say if i have to choose something. Im pretty amazed actually that you managed to keep it going in this fashion, each episode weird, but in a bit of a different way sort of, like rusty objects to eating sand. Anyways here is my review.

The graphics were awesome as usual, there wasnt much different since last episode in terms of the visuals, except there may have been a slight improvement with the animating, correct me if im wrong. The drawings of the characters are still detailed where they should be, the corps looked pretty real actually. Backgrounds make the environment appear desolate, and hence even wierder that he lives in the middle of nowhere. The animation also adds to this on occasion, though its tough to explain why. The style was awesome, it always is really. The plot is a little vague, though i know you intentionally did this, and its a good thing you did. A fully developped storyline would just not work with Salad Fingers. The overall feel of the series is always really eerie and odd, this is a good thing as you know as it is key to the success of each episode. The animating style is really good, partly because of what ive already explained but also because of its originality. The whole idea of salad fingers has been amazing since the beginning, this episode lives up to the reputation of the series without a doubt. The sound was awesome too, you could not have chosen better pieces of music for each episode, of course this episode was no different. The voice acting was just great too, his voice still creeps me out.

Overall this was yet another awesome Salad fingers movie, and the way the series is going so far i have high expectations for any of the upcoming or future episodes. Please keep them coming the way they have been and this series will truly be one of my favourites!
-Two thumbs Way Up!

Fantastic, better than the first!!

Wow man, this was seriously awesome. After the first one, i was thinking of how you could make a second Play without just putting slight differences in the ryhtms and beats. But you managed to make it very different while keeping the good familiar elements the same and adding some new sounds and making the beats pretty different too. This is just one of the many reasons why your are very high up in my favourite authors, i just hope you can keep on demonstrating your musical and animating talents with your future movies. Here is my review,

The graphics were awesome, yes im aware you didnt draw them from scratch, but the technique you used was still really awesome. Alot of the 10/10 here is obviously the originality in this animating style, as far as ive seen, there have been absolutely no other submissions using this technique. Im sure it was done pretty well compared to what most authors could do as well. The drawings seemed to be a pretty accurate to what the outline of your body doing the actions would be, but of course this is just a guess. The animation was all very smooth. And this type of animating was probably the best thing you could do with something based around rythm like this, suit it perfectly! The style, it couldnt be considered anything less than perfect, i mean everything from the animating style to the final presentation was just awesome! Well as i said the style of animation rocked the house :). The idea was very creative, again its kind of like stomp but of course with your own flare on it that im sure theyd even enjoy. The 2nd one was better because of the addition in sounds and slightly more complex beats, i like the effort you put into both of them. The presentation was really great too, all your ideas and plans seemed to have come together nicely. Its a shame they arent just a tad longer though. The sound was evidently pretty important here, its kind of based around it after all. And like the other aspects in this flash you did it justice. All the previous sounds were very good for a song, and even the new ones are great. Everything appeared to be insync the entire way through as well. There is probably nothing id want to change though.

Overall this was an amazing flash, it was great in everyway i can think of. Its cool you manage to have even a little bit of humour in this, because in the end little extras like that make it just that much better. Anyways i hope you can make more movies soon dustball, maybe even a Play Yet Again or something where you could do something crazy different! Keep up the awesome work!
-Standing Ovation! 5/5 (this is in my favs)

LoL, who thought fish could be so funny!?

Haha, this was really good. I dont remember the other episodes from the series so much, but i know they werent as funny as this. Come to think of it i may not have even watched the previous movies, though i didnt need to in order to really enjoy this one. I must say i wasnt expecting this to be funny at all, just because i havent seen many humourous things lately and the beginning was just a little bit slow for my liking. But it did really pick up so of course i almost forgot about the start as it picked up. Anyways here is my review.

The graphics were awesome in this, the effort really shows here, like with the funny little preloader, the sweet introduction to newgrounds itself, and also the opening scene to your movie. All showed a lot of effort in the visuals as well as some pretty impressive effects. Well the drawings themselves were pretty good, i rather liked the breakdown for the design of one fish, it may help me later on. The detail in not only the drawings, but the backgrounds as well was good. The animation was really good too, usually pretty smooth especially when there was lip sync going on. The facial expressions on the fish were often very nicely done, truly got the emotions or the state they were in across. The style was awesome too, im starting to like your animating style but there was much more here as well. The biggest thing id say is the overall effort, or at least what appeared to be a lot of effort. You said its been about a year since you submitted the previous episode, so naturally you would have spent a lot of time on it over a year's time. The extras showed lots of effort, like as i said before your own preloader and especially the intro for NG, of course there were the other extra things like the commentary that added some humour to it. The presentation of the series thus far has been great so just keep that up. Id probably just like to see maybe a bit more of a story line and a bit more length in the future. The sound was awesome too though, great voice acting was truly one of the keys to the 10 in humour, the voices were all awesome in each character. The sound effects while simple gave the movie a more complete feel to it.

Overall this was an awesome movie, with absolutely nothing id actually call "flaws". Im sure you know what you could work on, even if there isnt much. So for the next episode just refine all your skills and im sure the next one can be even better than this was. Id really like to see an even funnier one too! Great work!

shampawnya responds:

Thank you for the indepth review (they are truely far in between)... the length is a bit of a sore spot with me as well, as I had a WHOLE bunch more stuff to add but I hit 5megs WAY to fast for some strange reason. Hence the "To be continued..." into the 5th episode, hopefully to be longer. Again thanks!

Pretty good.

Nicely done on this 9th episode in the series, though i probably wouldnt say this is the best one so far, my favourite so far was number 7. This one would be right below #7 i think. Anyways i rather enjoyed this, it did everything the Skittles N Bitz series is known for and more specifically those things are the awesome sprite visuals, creative presentations and you cant forget the humour which just may be the one "big" thing in the series. Anyways here is my review.

Nice work on the visuals overall, your sprite work as always been solid in each of your movies that i have seen. The sprites themselves are usually well chosen for the situation as well as being fairly unusual and unique ones too. The backgrounds are always appropriate for the situation as well, or at least most of the time. The animation is usually pretty key in sprite animation, and you do it well, especially when you add to the jokes by making funny movements with the sprite characters. The style of this particular installment was better than the average of the series. Of course there wasnt much different in terms of style compared to other ones either, but the skits in this were a little more random in a way, and i found they were generally pretty funny because of the randomness, for example the fisherman one with the walrus. The sound was great too, many different songs, all used nicely. The sound effects were great too, often added a little bit of extra humour, and the voice acting was awesome too.

Overall this was a funny movie, and a splendid skittles N Bitz episode, fans of the series thus far will surely love it. I hope as this series continues the humour keeps getting better along with the rest of your skills, anyways i dont have doubts for future ones. Just keep up the great work!
